Purchase and Make Offer
You can check out seamlessly via Arttoo Pay for works listed with Purchase or Make Offer. Purchases completed through Arttoo benefit from our full suite of buyer protections, making Arttoo the safest place to buy the art you love.
Purchase
If you're ready to buy at the listed price, click the Purchase button and go through our secure checkout. The gallery will confirm your purchase within 72 hours, and typically ship within 7 days.
Make offer
If you'd like to negotiate price, click the Make offer button. When placing your first offer, there are a few things to consider:
- Offers around 10% below the list price have a good chance of being accepted by the gallery.

Offers around 20% or more below the list price are likely to
be declined outright.
If you're unsure about how much to offer, the Arttoo Price Database is a great resource for auction results and art market data.
Within 72 hours, you’ll hear back from the gallery. The gallery can respond to your offer in one of three ways:
- The gallery could accept your offer. Congratulations! Your payment method will be charged for the amount you offered plus any applicable shipping/taxes. When the artwork ships, you’ll receive an email with tracking information and estimated delivery date.
- The gallery could decline your offer. If your offer was declined by the gallery, the negotiations have ended. You can try again, this time by placing a higher offer. Or, if you’re interested in similar artworks at a lower price point, feel free to reach out to the Arttoo Specialists at orders@arttoo.co for guidance.
- The gallery could present a counteroffer. Your original offer was too low for the gallery to accept, and they have countered with a higher price. You’ll have 72 hours to respond to the gallery with your next decision—you can accept, decline, or continue negotiations further by sending your next counteroffer.

Bid at Auction
Arttoo's auctions include rare-to-market works at competitive prices. You can place advanced bids and bid in real time by following these steps.
- Register for the auction. Click "Register to bid" on the auction page and follow the prompts. Add your payment method and complete ID verification if required. Once your registration is approved, you'll receive your email.
- Confirm the sale format. Online only sales and live sales have different systems. Live sales will say "Live auction" in the upper right corner of the main auction page. Online only auctions will have a countdown until "Lots start closing."
- Review the lots. Remember that all bids are binding, so make sure you understand the fees, condition report, and any other clarifying questions before you place your bid.

Place your bid(s). Select any bidding amount
at or above the bid shown and click the "bid" button. This
will automatically place a bid for you at the next increment
to win you the work at the lowest competitive price.
If you're bidding in a live auction, please note that there is no confirmation screen. - Watch your lot until the end of the sale. For online only sales, you can watch your lot and raise your bid until the closing time indicated on the lot page (note: lots may be extended due to last minute bidding). For live sales, enter the live sale page to participate in real time.

Contact Gallery
Get expert advice straight from a gallery by clicking the “Contact Gallery” button on an artwork page. A gallery representative will provide more information and answer any questions you may have.
Tips for a successful inquiry:
- Introduce yourself. Sharing context about your collection or interest helps guide the conversation and allows the gallery to get to know you on a more personal level. Sharing this information might help you score a special discount!
- Ask key questions early. Asking about pricing, condition, or shipping often moves the conversation along and helps determine next steps.
- Follow up if needed. If you don't hear back within 7 days, let our team know at support@arttoo.co. We’ll follow up on your behalf.
Galleries will typically respond within 1 week, but might be slower to reply during weekends, holidays, or major art fairs. If you don't hear back, you can follow up in your Conversations inbox, located under the mail icon.
If you're ready to buy, you can either pay the gallery directly or ask them about paying through Arttoo Pay ("Purchase" and "Make offer"). Only works paid via Arttoo Pay benefit from the The Arttoo Guarantee.
Why isn’t Arttoo Pay available for some galleries?
In some cases, galleries are based in countries where Arttoo’s payment processing partners do not yet operate, so Arttoo Pay cannot be enabled.
These galleries are still vetted by Arttoo, regularly work with collectors globally, and facilitate purchases securely. If you're interested in an artwork, you can contact the gallery through Arttoo—they’ll guide you through next steps, typically including a formal invoice and trusted payment options.
